Nine out of ten problems on a browser video chat are one of three things, and all three have a fix that takes under a minute. Those are at the top; everything else is grouped underneath.
The three that come up most
01
Camera prompt never shows up
UsuallyYou are in an in-app browser
If you tapped a link inside Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or Messenger, that mini-browser blocks cameras. Open the ⋯ menu → "Open in browser", or type onevideomatch.com into Safari or Chrome.
02
They can see you, you cannot hear them
UsuallyOutput routed elsewhere, or their mic is muted
Check your volume and whether audio is going to headphones or a TV. If your side is fine, the other person is muted — type in the chat box to tell them, or press Next.
03
Matching feels slow or keeps failing
UsuallyA very narrow filter, or an unstable connection
Widen the filter — a single small country at 5am is a small pool. If it still stalls, reload the tab; a dropped signalling connection cannot recover on its own.
Picture and sound
How do I re-allow the camera after blocking it?
Desktop: click the padlock next to the address, set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then reload. iOS Safari: Settings → Safari → Camera → Ask. Android Chrome: padlock → Permissions → Camera → Allow. No account changes are needed.
My video is blurry or freezing
Video quality follows the weaker of the two connections. On mobile data, moving to Wi-Fi helps most; on Wi-Fi, closing other streaming tabs helps. A call needs roughly 4–8 MB per minute.
Can I use an external webcam or a virtual camera?
A plugged-in USB webcam works — pick it in your browser camera settings. Virtual cameras that inject pre-recorded video are treated as deception and get accounts removed from matching.
The other person cannot hear me
Check that your browser has microphone permission (padlock in the address bar) and that your OS input is not set to a disconnected headset. Also check any hardware mute switch on your headphones.
Matching, skipping and reporting
Can I get back to someone I skipped?
Not unless you added them as a friend during the call — tap the ♡ before hitting Next. There is deliberately no history of people you skipped past.
How do I report someone?
Tap the report icon on the call bar. The call ends immediately, that account can never be matched with you again, and a human reviews the case. See the Safety Center for what happens next and how fast.
I keep getting matched in the same region
Check whether a region or language filter is still on from an earlier session. With filters off, the pool is worldwide and weighted by who is awake — see live video chat for the regional peaks.
Someone asked me for money
End the call and report it. No legitimate match asks for money, gift cards, crypto or bank details, and we never ask for payment inside a call.
Account, coins and data
Do I need an account at all?
No. Matching, the call and unlimited skipping work with no account. A free profile only matters if you want to keep friends and filters between sessions.
What do coins do?
They pay for optional extras — precision filters like one specific country, and gifts. Nothing about the free random video chat changes if you never buy any.
How do I delete my account and data?
If you created a profile, request deletion through Contact Us and it is removed along with the friends and filters attached to it. Without a profile there is nothing stored to delete.
Are my calls recorded?
No archive of your calls is kept for playback or sharing. Live screening inspects the stream while the call runs; a reported moment is retained only for as long as the review needs.
Still stuck?
Tell us what device and browser you are on and what you see — that is usually enough to pin it down. Contact Us goes to the team. For safety matters specifically, the Safety Center explains what we act on and how quickly, and how it works covers what the matcher is actually doing.
